Mapfre Tower and Hotel Arts are the two tallest buildings in the city, the two skyscrapers crowning the Olympic Port of Barcelona.
They are often called the twin towers of Barcelona, because they have exactly the same height and are placed opposite to each other.For its spectacular height of 154 meters, the towers are not only the highest in the city but also the seventh-tallest skyscrapers all over Spain.
Between the two towers you will find the beautiful sculpture known as La Dorada, sculpted by Frank O’ Gehry.
Torre Mapfre
This spectacular tower has become one of the most representative symbols of Barcelona's Olympic Port.
Looking up from the ground floor you will have the impression to see a giant mirror that rises into the sky and reflect the street and the sea.
The tower includes several offices, among them the headquarters of the Mapfre insurance company, giving the name to the building.
The architects who designed this monumental tower were Iñigo Ortiz and Enrique León.
The height of this tower is 154 meters and it has 40 floors in total. This huge building has also a helipad on the roof intended only for emergency use.
Hotel Arts
Hotel Arts Barcelona is another important building in the Olympic Port of Barcelona, a new part of the private port built in 1992 in occasion of the Olympic Games of the city.
It was designed by architect Bruce Graham two years after the Olympics, in 1994.
Hotel Arts is a luxurious 5-stars hotel and it has the most amazing views of the sea and the city. Besides hotel rooms it also includes 30 luxury apartments occupying nine floors of the hotel.
The building is a tower of green glass, surrounded by an iron frame in white color with a total height of 154 meters and 44 floors.
The hotel has an important collection of Spanish Contemporary Art including more than thousand of masterpieces, paintings and sculptures.
