Travel by metro
The metro or subway in Barcelona is the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to get around. Metro lines run Monday – Thursday and Sunday 5 a.m.–midnight, Friday to 2 a.m., Saturday and holiday nights all night. FGC trains run 5 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 1:52 a.m. on weekends and on holidays. Sunday trains run on a weekday schedule.
Transfers from the metro line to the FGC (or vice versa) are free within one hour and 15 minutes. Note that you need to validate your ticket at both ends of your journey at many stations. Maps showing bus and metro routes are available free of charge from the Tourist Information Office in Plaça de Catalunya.
